Library/AR News From Mrs. Wingo

*The A.R. Store is coming the week of Oct. 2-6.  Requirements are: 80% Correct Test Average with 5 or more points (3 pts. for 1st Grade), and 8 or more Books read.
*The Point cut-off date is Friday, Sept. 29th.  
*Students in Gr. 2-5 must have their Log Sheet completed to qualify for AR Store shopping. 
*To check your child’s AR Progress, check our School AR site https://hosted62.renlearn.com/87386/  (click the headline to visit our AR site.)
This site will allow parents and students to check Books Read, Points, and Test Average % Correct.  Students may also check their “Bookshelves” to write their required Log Sheet information, to shop the AR Store. 

***AR Tests can never be taken from home.***

Our Top A.R. Point Leaders for the year so far are:
   1st Grade:  Owen 13.9 points                                         
   2nd Grade:  Eason 35.5 
3rd Grade:  Chloe 51.1 Points 
   4th Grade:  Kady 50.0
5th Grade:  Jacob 326.9

*The Library accepts donations to the A.R. Store throughout the year.  We accept gently used toys that are appropriate for our school-age students.  We also accept gently used books, appropriate for our students.  Extra AR Points are rewarded, during AR Store week, to those students who donate.

*The Library appreciates your support of reading and is looking forward to the first A.R. Store of the year!!  Any questions or comments, feel free to contact the Library.

*Bartlett Elementary came in 3rd Place in the Bartlett Public Library Reading contest, this past summer. Our students read 1,535 books. Awesome Job!! Our Library was awarded $480 from the “Friends of the Bartlett Public Library”. This donation will be used in purchasing new books for our school. Many thanks for the support of reading!!!

Go Jim Go Kickoff Friday, Sept. 22nd. Help BES raise money for LeBonheur Hospital.

Jim Jaggers from News Channel 3 will be at Bartlett Elementary on Friday, September 22nd, to help kick off the 12th annual fundraiser for
LeBonheur Children’s Hospital. Wear your helmet and favorite spirit shirt on Friday, Sept. 22nd.
We will begin collecting money on Monday, September 25th.
Monday, 9/25 – pennies
Tuesday, 9/26 – nickels
Wednesday, 9/27 – dimes
Thursday, 9/28 – quarters
Friday, 9/29 – cash or checks made to LeBonheur
*New this year…
If you are interested in participating, you might be eligible to chase all three administrators with a water gun or water soaker. WHAT?? Yes. It’s true!

Here’s what’s we’re planning:
• $5.00 donation gets a homework pass with a piece of gum
• $10.00 donation gets a homework pass with a piece of gum, a bracelet, and their name on a paper bike to be displayed on a wall
• $15.00 donation gets a homework pass with a piece of gum, a bracelet, and their name on a paper bike to be displayed on a wall, PLUS the ability to participate in the challenge
Any donation over $15.00 will get all of the above and a BIG bike to display on the wall.


**Teachers do not have time to count money.
If you want your child to earn any of the above incentives, PLEASE send in cash or a check made payable to: Lebonheur Children’s Hospital in an envelope with the following information:

Field Day T-Shirt Orders...Coming Soon! Due Sept. 14th

Field Day t-shirt order forms will be coming home this week. This is the
"class t-shirt" that the students wear on field trips, special days, and of course to Field Day in May. Each homeroom will be assigned a specific color. T-shirts are $5; adult 2x & 3x $7. Click the headline to print a Field Day t-shirt order form.

BCS Solar Eclipse 2017

On Monday, August 21, 2017, the moon will pass between the earth and the sun for the first coast-to-coast total solar eclipse since 1918. Millions of Americans in 12 states will be able to watch this solar spectacle that will turn day into night for a couple of minutes. Tennessee is among the 12 states that have been declared to be the best place to experience this rare phenomenon.

Bartlett City Schools is planning for its students to participate in this event. BCS has purchased and will supply solar eclipse viewing glasses for students. Permission slips will be coming home next week. Parents of students in grades K-8 must sign and return all forms no later than Thursday, August 17, 2017.

City Saver Fundraiser: August 14th-25th

Bartlett Elementary School needs your support! We are kicking off our 2017-2018 fundraising season by selling the popular Memphis City Saver coupon book with their companion iPhone & Android App for DOUBLE SAVINGS! We will send one sample book home. Additional books will be delivered upon payment.

Last year, we raised over $11,000 with this fundraiser and it helps us provide Promethean boards and iPads which benefit all of our students!

We know that with your help, we can reach our goal of $15,000 this year. We are asking each family to BUY ONE and SELL ONE, that’s it.
The book sells for $25 and our school will make 50% for every book sold!

• Please turn your orders and checks in daily. Please do not wait until the last day to turn in orders!
• Checks should be made payable to BES PTO.
• Sale runs through Friday, August 25, 2017.

2017-18 Essential School Supplies

100 Mile Club Summer Fitness Challenge: Due August 7th :)

AAH! Those Lazy Days of Summer! Summer is a fun time to rest
and relax, but we hope you will play outside and be as active as you can! Your body doesn’t need a long break! We would like for you to keep a log of the number of minutes you spend each day exercising. You can ride your bike, jump on a trampoline, play sports, play tag, jog, swim or dance! EVERY 15 MINUTES OF CONTINUAL EXERCISE EQUALS ONE MILE! Write down what activities you do each day, and the number of “miles” you do. Your goal is to get 100
Miles by the first day of school, August 7th. IF YOU REACH THIS GOAL, you will become a member of the 100 MILE CLUB!
Those who make the 100 MILE CLUB will enjoy a celebration during school this fall!
Parents will need to verify this activity by signing on the 100 Mile Club Challenge Form (Click the headline to print.) Return this form to us on the first day of school. SEE YOU IN AUGUST!
